A handsome and comfortable early 20th century salon sofa with West Indies (Cuban) mahogany frame and upholstery. Frame is fabricated in a dense mahogany with a dark-umber, French polish finish. Sofa has an arched back, scrolled arms, scalloped apron and rests on stylized escargot feet. Newly upholstered with a Robert Allen cream-colored cotton twill and a double welt of the same fabric. Northern Europe, finish is typical of mahogany furniture from the Baltic states, circa 1915. Note: Back is finished so that it can be free-standing in a room.
Measurements: 71″ long x 28 1/2″ deep x 43 3/4 high (Seat height 19″).
