Vintage Design
Complementary, prolific and tireless, the creative couple Nicole and Pierre Chapo had an inspiring and exhilarating life.
After an initiatory trip to England and Scandinavia, Pierre met Nicole and the two set off on an adventure in 1955 to travel the length and breadth of America. It was at the end of this trip in a Ford T that the architectural and artistic influences left the imprint of the most beautiful future Chapo creations. These are still made today by their children. In short, a beautiful family story!
Stopping there to describe the whole Chapo atmosphere would be reductive, but it would take several pages on this site to let their philosophy infuse and others have already done it very well.
Finally, to return briefly to this beautiful and smooth 3-seater S32 sofa, created in 1967, we must observe the famous “48×72” joint, Chapo’s emblematic signature, the choice of Elm for a very solid structure with deep golden reflections and all dressed in thick camel leather which also serves as support for the backrest!
Generosity, simplicity and robustness are felt in Chapo furniture. His creations stand the test of time and survive trends.
