Manufactory: Anton Kothgasser (1769 – 1851)
trained at the Academy of Fine Arts and from 1784 worked as a design and gold painter in the Vienna porcelain factory. Together with Gottlob Samuel Mohn, Kothgasser created the stained glass windows without lead. After Mohn’s death, the technique of transferring the delicate porcelain painting onto the colorless crystal glass was given a second bloom by Kothgasser. He adorned the glasses with meticulously worked landscapes, portraits, pieces of flowers and animals, allegories and buildings; his specialty were panorama glasses with city views of Vienna.
