Pair of Michael Taylor-Style Pale Pink Plaster Spiral Column Floor Lamps, 1980s

An impressive pair of 1980s pale pink plaster spiral column floor lamps with shades, done in the manner of Michael Taylor for Kreiss.

Substantial column with a tightly-twisted spiral body, Roman-style multi-band capital, and broad stepped base. Deeply and organically textured Tuscan stucco-like layer hand-crafted over a smooth plaster core. We’ve been unable to find any other examples with the exact same striking from.

Further setting the pair apart from their similarly-styled contemporaries is the tinted plaster’s very pretty shade of super pale pink blush, a finish we’ve not found on them elsewhere. It’s an incredibly delicate color that’s difficult to capture in camera—the uniform warm pink tone can take on a very subtle hint of peach under certain lighting conditions.

With original brass stem, socket, and fittings. Includes original complementary warm pink-tinted light ecru empire-style shade. 31.5 inch-long cord appears to be original as well.

Dimensions listed are overall. Column is H 60 in. x Dia. 24.75 in. at bottom and Dia. 5.5 in. at top. Height to top of finial is 64.5 in. Each weighs a substantial 44 lbs.
