This dry point, mezzotint, aquatint etching by Jack Levine is titled “Election Night” and was acquired from a Palm Beach estate. Here Levine has captured the electricity of an election nights pending or announced results and it would seem the characters are from the time of the Belle Époque with their attire.

Born on January 3, 1915 in Boston, MA to Lithuanian Jewish immigrants, Levine went on to study at Harvard University under Denman W. Ross where he was introduced to and influenced by the works of Chaïm Soutine, Georges Rouault, and Oskar Kokoschka. Levine died on November 8, 2010 in New York, NY.
