A classic and iconic British Mid century modernist dining set comprising a circular dining table and 4 brown leather and chrome cantilever chairs dating from the late 1960’s.
Merrow Associates produced many outstanding British mid century pieces throughout the 1960’s and 70’s and stood out as producing a more modernist style of design during the period. Their suite of furniture designs encompassed dining and coffee tables as well as wall units, book shelves and serving trolleys.
This table is perhaps their most iconic and sought after table design featuring a revolving ‘Lazy Susan’ centrepiece set in beautifully figured and matched quarter panelled Indian Rosewood and supported by thick chrome legs. The table top, at 138cms, will seat 6 but note only 4 chairs will tuck under the table when not in use because of the positioning of the table legs.
The table is perfectly matched by the Richard Young cantilever chrome chairs upholstered in soft brown leather and together create an elegant and sophisticated dining set that would suit many styles of décor.
Both the table and chairs are presented in excellent vintage condition with only minor marks to the top, frame and chrome work commensurate with age and use. There is no rust or flaking of the chrome and the leather upholstery shows no major marks to speak of
