The frame is constructed from wood that has been mortice and tenon joined. The facade is hand carved with extraordinary craftsmanship and skill before being finished with a gold leaf paint that shines brightly to this day.
Rounded rectangular in shape, the mirror has historically been hung in portrait orientation but works just as well in landscape. The facade of the frame is decorated in a border of hemispherical bulbs as well as corner motifs tapped into the wood.
While pieces such as this mirror are attributable to the inspiration of the Art Nouveau movement, you can see design elements that have continued to be revisited, even as late as in Mid-Century Modernism and the works of Gio Ponti, Ico Parisi and others of the era.
