Biedermeier silver sugar bowl in rectangular basic form on four rocaille feet, the walls of the container drawn in towards the top and provided with folds, which run straight on the narrow sides and curved on the wide sides, floral decoration in relief on the corners and diagonals of the hinged lid, sculptural lying pear as a knob, remains of interior gilding and lock present.
Branded by the Wheel mark, Austrian official hallmark for Vienna: 13 Lot silver, dated 1863
Master’s mark ‘TD’ for Thomas Dub, authorization 1839, master’s right 1851, factory authorization 1859, named in the guild lists from 1840 to 1889.
