A remarkable piece of furniture dating back to around 1880 and hails from the central Chinese province of Shaanxi. Characteristically, furniture from this region features strong frames and panels decorated with intricate, colorful carvings and accents.
This antique carved coffer offers a unique focal point, boasting six drawers adorned with intricate floral carvings and heavy iron hardware. While its originally vibrant colours of red, blue, and green have faded to softer hues, this piece can easily blend into any neutral decor. This exquisite chest is elegantly crafted from elm wood, featuring thick, molded legs discreetly tucked beneath a sturdy overhang. Its top, formerly black but now gently weathered to reveal the paler wood beneath, adds an air of authenticity and timelessness.
