Antique English Carved Wainscott Throne Armchair, 1662

Royal House Antiques is delighted to offer for sale this exceptionally rare, 1662 dated, Northern English hand carved from solid oak Wainscot armchair with the quote “Comfort Ye One Another” carved in the top .. A highly decorative and original piece the back panel depicts some kind of scene which has a religious look and feel to it, the piece is dated to the top 1662 however to me it feels more late 18th century to the early 19th century but I could be wrong. It is carved in the Jacobean style The chair is exactly as you wish to find in, unrestored and unaltered, its held together with dowels, every single piece is hand sawn and carved, there is a removable custom made embroidered seat pad which certainly makes taking a seat a more pleasant affair We have cleaned waxed and polished it from top to bottom, it has the original finish and looks amazing in any setting Dimensions Height:- 140cm Width:- 75cm Depth:- 68cm Seat height:- 50.5cm Please note all measurements are taken at the widest point, if you would like any additional or specific measurements please ask.
