As customary for genuine antique furniture, the chest bears historic knocks, marks, cracks, scratches, wear, imperfections, and signs of repairs and alterations. The locks are untested due to the absence of keys, and later handles have been added. Historic extinct woodworm holes, common for 18th-century walnut/oak pieces, have been treated. Some veneer replacement, along with imperfections and repairs typical of period burr walnut, are present.
