Charming hand carved mid-sized wooden Folk Art dowry chest from the Black Forest area of Switzerland, made circa the turn of the century.
It features a beautifully hand carved floral and vine Acanthus motif and has ‘claw-like’ feet.
Two side handles for easier transport and to complete the chest it has (worn) appliques of handstitched needlework panels.
This would be a beautiful decorative eye-catcher in a hallway or living room to store a blanket in.
