A unique 19th century French exotic themed, hand painted, decoupaged and mirrored depiction of a young animal trainer and his bear.
The paper figural scene is cut and mounted between glass and a mirror backing, showing a boy training a standing bear. The boy wears a red robe and cap with a gold neckpiece. The bear is on a lead and holds a walking stick.
The mirror is presented in a French Rococo-style scroll carved giltwood frame.
A very heavy and unusual piece.
