A late 19th century Black Forest, German Austrian, two parts mahogany antler gun cabinet. The top section has a single large glazed door, followed by a base with one drawer over two doors. The top is crowned with one of the most startlingly beautiful arrangements of red and fallow deer antlers that I have ever seen on a piece of case furniture, with boar tusks in the front centre, surrounded by a deer carved pediment. The sides and base are richly decorated with several antlers from the stag and fallow deer, turned horn ends and figural hand carved horn roses, expertly carved in deep relief from the base of an antler. Polished crowns punctuate points all over the case where two or more antlers join. Inside are mounts for 4 rifles with brass fixtures. Even the forked footings where the gun stocks rest inside the cabinet are antlers. In excellent clean condition throughout.
