Perfect side table or wine table next to a chair of sofa. A very beautifully-proportioned and handsome Empire/Biedermeier sewing table that would have been used for needlework in an elegant salon. Square lift-top is hinged, opening to a series of lidded interior compartments for needlework accoutrements with interior access to a pleated silk basket intended to hold yarns. Top rests on turned, tripod pedestal with saber legs & carved lions’ paw feet. Northern Europe, likely, Sweden, circa 1820.
