Vintage Stag Horn Carving Set Solingen, Germany

A rustic carving set consisting of fork and knife. The handles are made of genuine stag horn and feature a silver knob on their ends. Blade and fork made of stainles steel. Manufactured in Solingen Germany ca. 1960s. Good condition with traces of use according to the old age. The measures are taken from the knife.

Belgian Silver and Horn Salad Servers

The handles of this pair of very attractive silver and horn salad servers are decorated with neo-classical laurel wreaths atop fluted, tapering columns, which contrast nicely to the plainness of the spoon and fork. The handles carry the mark 950M which indicates they are were made in Belgium to that countries’ 950 parts per thousand silver standard (British sterling silver is 925 parts per thousand). The makers mark is A L below a star and crescent, but I haven’t been able to put a name to the mark. Both pieces measure 280 mm (11 inches) in length and the width of the spoon is 45 mm (1.75 inches). Both pieces are in very good condition and would date from around 1900.

French Silver Cake Slice with Gilt Blade

This very attractive French silver cake slice, or dessert spoon, features an embossed silver handle and a silver gilt blade which is very slightly dished. The blade is decorated with hand engraved lines to the outer edge of the front which were done prior to it being gilded. The blade also carries the makers stamp for Auguste Girard of Paris. The French silver mark showing the head of Minerva is stamped on the handle where it joins the blade. The stamp fails to show the fineness of the silver, whether it is 925 parts per 1000, or 800 parts per 1000, so I will assume 800 parts per 1000. The length is 300 mm (11.75 inches), the width 60 mm (2 3/8ths inches), and the thickness of the handle is 12 mm (.5 of an inch). It weighs 122 gms (3.9 troy ounces). It is in very good condition and would date from around 1900.
