Austro-German 19th Century Biedermeier Sofa

A fabulous Biedermeier style settee from 19th century Bavaria. The settee is made from exceptionally beautiful, solid maple. Some areas have a striped appearance to the grain. This is known as “tigering”. The sofa’s back has a central pointed pediment with smart ebony moulded trim. It is upholstered in a striped and floral silk fabric that was present when the antique was purchased in the Netherlands. The settee’s seat can pullout / pull-out to reveal a hidden storage area.

Beautiful and very unusual 19th century Swedish antique Biedermeier settle sofa in top grade quilted golden birch in a deep French polish finish with lovely carved detail.

It has delicate legs, backrest carvings and central shell motifs with a webbed seat for added comfort. The back is not veneered as is the case with all original Biedermeier sofas of this type as they were made to stand against the wall but we can restain the back to a close matching color if you wish for an extra cost.

Very special piece. The original fabric will be left on the sofa ready for you to add your final fabric on arrival. But we can recover for you in your fabric for an extra cost.
