Pair of Regency style caned armchairs from the end of the 19th century.
Iconic model of the Regency style, these armchairs have curved cross-shaped legs.
It’s armchairs are nicely animated and full of dynamism.
Both the seat and the backrest are caned.
These armchairs have been repainted in a gray white with gray highlights and a gold highlight to further highlight the moldings.
A custom-made cushion upholstered in dark gray velvet sits on the seat.
Great decorative potential.
The seat height is 45cm.

This is a stunning original 19th century, hand carved Italian walnut armchair with neoclassical figures throughout after Andrea Brustolon This chair is absolutely stunning, its hand carved from head to toe in solid walnut, it swivels as it should do and looks important and expensive in any setting
We have lightly cleaned waxed and polished the frame from top to bottom, there will be age and use related patina marks here and there as you would expect but nothing the detracts from the quality

Andrea Brustolon (20 July 1662 – 25 October 1732) was an Italian sculptor in wood. He is known for his furnishings in the Baroque style and devotional sculptures. He was trained in a vigorous local tradition of sculpture in his native Belluno, in the Venetian terraferma, and in the studio of the Genoese sculptor Filippo Parodi, who was carrying out commissions at Padua and at Venice (1677). He spent the years 1678-80 at Rome, where the High Baroque sculpture of Bernini and his contemporaries polished his style. Apart from that, the first phase of Brustolon’s working career was spent in Venice, 1680–1685. Brustolon is documented at several Venetian churches where he executed decorative carving in such profusion that he must have quickly assembled a large studio of assistants.

Antique Victorian circa 1880 hand made in England armchairs with hand carved walnut claw & ball feet feather filled cushions. A good looking, well made and decorative pair, they are also exceptionally comfortable. They were reupholstered a short while age is this Chestnut reddish brown leather which is very nice, the seat cushions as mentioned are overstuffed and feather filled, the frame is all hand carved walnut which looks exquisite from every angle! Condition wise we have cleaned waxed and polished them from top to bottom, there will be good honest patina as mentioned but nothing negative to note.
