An Austrian Biedermeier style small pedestal sofa in fruitwood represents the high point in this design form. Amazing in its day the style is sleek and dramatic and still is to this day. The Fine grained wood choice is made all the more interesting by the curved areas it is used in to create a design element. Upholstered in its original fabric as we found it but needs to be reupholstered.

An antique German Biedermeier sofa made of hand crafted polished, partly veneered Cherrywood and Burlwood, in good condition. The particularized settee is composed with a slightly inclined backrest with wide, tall curved armrests, standing on four arched wooden legs. Newly upholstered in a black-white fabric. Restored, refurbished and hand polished. Wear consistent with age and use, circa 1820-1830, Southern, Germany.

18th Century Green French Three Seater Beechwood, Velour Sofa by Sulpice Brizard

An 18th Century French three seater sofa, stamped Sulpice Brizard (Master 1762) 1735-1796. The hand crafted Parisian settee has a partial carved, painted grey Beechwood frame, in good condition. Newly upholstered in a green velour from Lelièvre Paris. This antique canapé is a brilliant example of Brizard’s talent in combining elegance, proportions and the fine detail of the carvings. Minor fading, due to age. Wear consistent with age and use. Circa 1770, Paris, France.

Similar can be seen in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
