A rare antique writing desk set made of wood and original antlers decorated with fine carved hunting scenes depicting deer families, game and staghond. The wooden base is completely venered covered with thin antler pieces. Executed in Germany ca. 1840. The writing desk is in very good original condition. Small piece missing on one foot.

This article contains parts of animal origin, which belong to non-endangered and non-threatened animals and follow the US Fish & Wildlife regulations. They are not listed on CITES Appendix I and II. Our international shipping follows all country laws.

Excellent workmanship and very cool looking antique box.

This 19th century and all handcrafted box is perfect for decorating the interior of your lodge, but also in a home environment this antique would look great on a desk or on your credenza or side table. The German Black Forest artisan who created this work of beauty was obviously inspired by the stacked tree trunk designs of many German and Swiss lodges in that era. Or maybe he liked English word jokes, because he created a little trunk out of (tree) trunks. Either way, this fine example still opens and shuts perfectly. It even comes with the original and working lock and key. However, it won’t lock-up, because the little pin with the hole that is supposed to be on the inside of the lid is missing. Apart from some truly minor imperfections this antique and great looking box could not be in better condition. Especially in this day and age, when almost everything is machine made and without any detail, it is incredible to see how well the artisan managed to hand carve this antique in such a way that you actually think that you are looking at a trunk that is made of stacked wood logs. Apart from being highly decorative and of practical proportions, this chest-design box can be used for all kinds of purposes and its amazing design and patina will never fail to impress.

Antique Swiss Samuel Troll Fils Key Wind Cylinder Music Box

Made in Switzerland in approximately 1850, this key wind brass cylinder music box is set in a burled walnut case with an inlaid shield in the top and has a glass protective cover over the mechanism. On the inside of the lid is the original label and identifies Samuel Troll Fils as the maker, who is a well known for his workmanship in the production of music boxes from this time period. The music box has its original brass key and is in good period working condition and plays four melodies or ayrs.
