Charming hand carved mid-sized wooden Folk Art dowry chest from the Black Forest area of Switzerland, made circa the turn of the century.

It features a beautifully hand carved floral and vine Acanthus motif and has ‘claw-like’ feet.
Two side handles for easier transport and to complete the chest it has (worn) appliques of handstitched needlework panels.

This would be a beautiful decorative eye-catcher in a hallway or living room to store a blanket in.

measurements include handles and clawfeet.

Biedermeier Walnut Miniature Blanket Chest

The miniature chest was made of walnut and dates back to the early Biedermeier period at the beginning of the 19th century. A very nice small rare furniture. The bottom of the chest is spruce, the rest is solid walnut. The lock of the chest has been renewed. In very good restored hand polished condition.
