This excellent piece was made around the turn of the twentieth century by the renowned and exceptional ebeniste Francois Linke, a leading maker of furniture in Paris. Featuring a hinged oval top above an entrelac frieze, the piece is mounted on fluted legs supporting a conforming under-tier. It is inscribed ‘F Linke’ to left of lower leg, stamped ‘LINKE’ to right of lower leg mount, and the lock-plate is further stamped ‘CT LINKE/SERRUERIE/PARIS/82′, one original key stamped ’82’.
